On Monday, May 4, Governor Sanders participated in the open house for the University of Arkansas—Fort Smith Advanced Manufacturing Center and the grand opening of its Workforce Development Center. She ceremonially cut the ribbon alongside Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva and other officials, emphasizing the importance of advanced manufacturing skills. The Governor also toured ABB Motors & Mechanical Inc. in Fort Smith, observing industrial operations.
Mid-week, on Wednesday, May 6, Governor Sanders announced a maternal health campaign at the Month of May MOMs block party in Little Rock, joined by Arkansas Secretary of Health Renee Mallory. Later that day, she signed tax cuts into law at the State Capitol Building, a key legislative achievement.
Her week also included a trip to Washington, D.C., where she discussed maternal health with Maryland Governor Wes Moore on NBC News' Meet the Press on Thursday, May 7.
