Message from Director Carey As we close out Second Chance Month, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in the events hosted by the Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs (MORCA) throughout April. Your energy and commitment made this month a powerful demonstration of engagement, connection, and community support. From meaningful conversations to fun gatherings, each activity helped amplify the vital resources that returning citizens and their families rely on. We culminated our commemoration of the month with the Welcome Home Expo, where attendees were able to access an incredible range of services all in one place—an event that truly showcased the strength of collaboration. I’m also proud that our team joined Mayor Bowser’s 10th Annual Spring Cleanup, standing alongside volunteers from all eight wards to beautify and care for our city. As we move into May, we are excited to celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month. We have a dynamic calendar of events planned, including small business seminars designed to boost entrepreneurial growth and Foodelicious, our signature celebration of AANHPI culinary traditions. Later this month, we’ll host our Community Development Grant Pre-Bidders Conference on May 19th, an important opportunity for partners and organizations seeking funding to get their questions answered! Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are moving forward with purpose—and running through the tape . Let’s keep this momentum going.
