Detectives have charged Ibrahim Osman Hussen, 31, of Alexandria, following a stolen delivery van crash in Lorton that left one woman with serious injuries. The incident, which occurred yesterday afternoon, involved multiple hit-and-run collisions.
At approximately 3:31 p.m., officers responded to Richmond Highway and Lorton Road after a multi-vehicle crash involving a 2020 Ram ProMaster package delivery van, stolen earlier from the Mount Vernon District. Preliminary investigations indicate Hussen stole the unoccupied van while its driver was making deliveries in the 9100 block of Richmond Highway.
Hussen then drove southbound on Richmond Highway, striking several vehicles and causing minor damage. He subsequently crossed into northbound lanes near Lorton Road, colliding with a 2015 Nissan Altima and a 2023 Nissan Sentra before the van came to a stop. Hussen sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The adult female driver of the Nissan Altima was hospitalized in life-threatening condition and remains with serious injuries. The Nissan Sentra driver was uninjured. Detectives are investigating if speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
Later, Hussen was also identified as a suspect in a burglary reported in the 9300 block of Old Colchester Road in Lorton. He faces charges including Burglary, Felony Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, Grand Larceny, Trespassing, and Petit Larceny. Hussen is being held without bond and will be transferred to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center upon medical clearance.
