A South Carolina man, Jean Pierre Gendron, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine, to robbing a Westbrook bank of over $6,300.
According to court records, Gendron, 61, handed a note demanding money to a teller before fleeing with the cash in a blue bank bag. Westbrook Police identified him, and he was apprehended by Londonderry Police in New Hampshire shortly after boarding a bus, still in possession of the stolen money and bag.
Gendron admitted to the robbery and now faces significant penalties, including up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release. His sentencing will occur following the completion of a presentence investigative report. The FBI and Westbrook Police Department investigated the case.
