U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested numerous criminal illegal aliens over the weekend, including individuals convicted of vehicular manslaughter, lewd acts with a minor child, aggravated sexual battery, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis emphasized the agency's commitment, saying, "Every day, the brave men and women of ICE are making our communities safer. This weekend, ICE arrested murderers, registered sex offenders, sexual predators, violent assailants, and other criminal illegal aliens. We will not let rioters slow us down from removing the worst of the worst from American neighborhoods."
Among those apprehended was Carlos Sanchez-Benitez from El Salvador, convicted for second-degree vehicular manslaughter in Riverhead, New York. Lauro Javier Miron-Tapia, a registered sex offender from Mexico, was arrested after being convicted for lewd acts with a minor child under 14 in Los Angeles, California.
Other significant arrests included Nun Hawi Tuam from Burma, convicted for aggravated sexual battery in Davidson County, Tennessee, and Yermy Hernandez-Castro from Honduras, convicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Irving, Texas. These operations underscore ICE's focus on removing individuals deemed public safety threats.
