Sierra Club is reporting that it will host a special livestream on June 10 to celebrate America's offshore wind industry for Global Wind Day. The online event, scheduled for 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT, will highlight offshore wind's role in delivering clean, affordable energy, creating jobs, and helping communities address climate change impacts.
The organization said the livestream will feature leading experts and advocates discussing successful offshore wind projects on the East Coast, how the technology lowers energy costs and strengthens local economies, and why responsibly developed wind projects are essential for protecting communities, wildlife, and habitats. Participants will also address what Sierra Club describes as "attacks" from President Trump and his allies in Congress regarding clean energy.
Advocates from Sierra Club, the National Wildlife Federation, and the League of Conservation Voters will join Liz Klein, former Director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management under the Biden administration, for a conversation. The event will also include a screening of "Coast to Coast," a short film exploring the future of offshore wind in the United States, followed by stories from workers in the industry.
