Lesley Rosenthal of The Juilliard School will serve as Yale's next university secretary, President Maurie McInnis announced.
Rosenthal, a higher education and arts executive with extensive nonprofit governance experience, starts Dec. 1, according to the announcement.
The appointment was included in Yale Today, the university's newsletter, dated September 29, 2026.
Other items in the same edition included a Q&A with Yale infectious disease specialist Scott Roberts, who said October is the best time to get an annual flu shot. He discussed the importance of vaccination, who needs it most, and what sets the newly approved mRNA vaccine apart in the fight against influenza.
The newsletter also highlighted the Yale Jackson School's Jennifer Seddon, lead editor of the annual Air Quality and Climate Bulletin, which connects areas of research and helps establish priorities for global environmental policy.
Separately, six missing parchment leaves from a rare 15th-century manuscript held by the Beinecke library have been found in England. Yale Library said the connection was made by U.K. researchers thanks to its intensive efforts to make its collections digitally accessible.
In athletics, the Yale men's soccer team topped the University of New Haven 2-0 on Tuesday, with goals by first-years Dijon Fosu and David Leidl. In Saturday's wet and windy Ivy League opener at Reese Stadium, the team tied Penn 1-1, with junior Teague McCammon scoring the equalizer in the 63rd minute.
