A landmark $22.5 million gift from alumnus Gabriel Gilinski and Stephanie Gilinski will establish an endowed scholarship and professorships supporting history, political science, and economics in the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences.
The commitment is aimed at advancing affordability and academic excellence at the school, according to Penn Today.
President J. Larry Jameson acknowledged the gift, saying, "Gabriel and Stephanie's generous commitment expands access to a Penn education while investing in the scholars whose outstanding teaching and research enrich our academic community."
The donation adds to Penn's efforts to broaden student access while supporting faculty whose teaching and research strengthen the university's academic community.
The gift was announced in Penn Today's Sept. 23, 2026, newsletter, which also highlighted other university news, including the Botswana-UPenn Partnership's growth over more than two decades from a response to the AIDS/HIV crisis into one of the country's strongest advocates for access to care.
Other items included a Wharton study finding that human bottlenecks prevent AI-driven software development gains from reaching customers, and Penn Medicine research by emergency medicine professor M. Kit Delgado showing drivers are less likely to wear seatbelts at night, at higher speeds, and on shorter trips.
