Google announced a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence advancements in July, introducing faster Gemini models, advanced robotics capabilities, and new creative tools for video and music production.
Developers gained access to three new Gemini models—3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite, and 3.5 Flash Cyber—designed for higher token efficiency, lower latency, and reliable performance in scaling AI agent workflows. Additionally, Gemini Robotics ER 2, Google's most capable "embodied reasoning" model, was launched to enable robots to interact naturally, understand their surroundings, and complete complex, multi-step tasks in the physical world.
Creative tools also saw significant updates, with Google Vids introducing Gemini Omni and personal avatars for easier video generation and editing. Google Flow Music, powered by the latest Lyria 3.5 model, received advancements in musicality, lyrics, and vocal quality to help users craft richer tracks.
Everyday tasks are set to become more streamlined with the expansion of Gemini Spark, which can now handle complex web errands like scheduling appointments or researching flights using logged-in accounts. Search also enhanced its capabilities, allowing users to securely link and interact with more of their favorite apps, such as YouTube Music, directly within AI Mode for tailored responses.
New Samsung Galaxy Z Series devices, including the Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8, launched with the first capabilities of Gemini Intelligence, making it easier to get started on Android. A new native migration experience built into Android 17 also simplifies transferring data wirelessly from iPhones.
Google is also applying AI to address societal challenges, launching three new FireSat satellites with the Earth Fire Alliance to detect wildfires early. A partnership with NOAA is modernizing weather forecasting by using Google Cloud’s high-performance H4D virtual machines for atmospheric models, aiming to deliver faster, life-saving early warnings.
Furthermore, Google joined BlackRock, Carhartt, and Ford to form the Alliance for America’s Skilled Trades, aiming to build a stronger workforce pipeline. The company also made AlphaEvolve, a Gemini-powered AI code-optimization agent, generally available to Google Cloud customers, and introduced Gemini Notebook, an enhanced version of NotebookLM integrated across the Google ecosystem.
Other notable advancements include the reconstruction of Pelé’s "lost" goal using Google DeepMind technology and new features celebrating 25 years of visual search innovation, such as a browseable home for Google Images and image generation through AI Overviews. These July updates underscore AI's growing role in making technology more practical, creative, and helpful across various aspects of life and industry.
