The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Water Quality Bureau will host a virtual informal stakeholder meeting on June 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. to discuss proposed changes to several chapters of the Iowa Administrative Code. The public meeting aims to gather comments and answer questions regarding updates to regulations concerning water quality, water supplies, and dam safety.

Key proposed changes include the adoption of the revised Consumer Confidence Reports Rule by reference to the Code of Federal Regulations, post-EO10 cleanup of drinking water chapters, and revisions to the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) chapter. The DWSRF amendments will align with Clean Water SRF and Iowa Finance Authority rules, and allow service line costs to be eligible for SRF funds, consistent with federal guidelines.

Further amendments involve updating Water Use Permit public notice and public hearing rules to reflect modern practices, making renewals subject to public hearing requests per Iowa Code 455B.278. The application fee table for Water Use will also be amended to re-include the Water Storage Permit Application Fee, which was previously struck. Additionally, a Dam Safety reference will be updated to reflect changes in a Water Use chapter.

The meeting will be held virtually via Google Meet, with a short presentation provided. Interested parties can join by video at meet.google.com/exh-yghs-fef or by phone at 413-591-0624 using PIN: 576 741 417#. The proposed changes are available for review on the DNR’s Water Quality Bureau rulemaking webpage.
