Fairfax County has activated its heat plan and opened a 24-hour cooling center at the Jim Scott Community Center in response to continued extreme heat expected through the holiday weekend.
The Jim Scott Community Center will operate continuously until Sunday, July 5, at 8 a.m., providing relief from the high temperatures. Other county recreation centers will also be available for cooling during their limited operating hours.
The county's heat plan has been extended through Saturday, July 4, to ensure public safety during the prolonged heatwave.
