A previously convicted sex offender from Williams County, Ohio, James McGregor, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for committing child sexual abuse offenses while on parole for a separate crime.
McGregor, 39, of Montpelier, Ohio, received a 240-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Jeffrey J. Helmick. He pleaded guilty in February to Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography, also known as Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM). Following his imprisonment, McGregor is ordered to serve 20 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
According to the indictment, McGregor knowingly received and distributed visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct from approximately January through December 2024. The investigation, led by the FBI Toledo Resident Agency, resulted in the seizure of two cellphones found to contain CSAM.
This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative spearheaded by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices. The program aims to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by leveraging federal, state, and local resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute offenders, as well as to rescue victims.
