The NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) will host its next Women’s Health Research Roundtable on July 30, 2026, focusing on "The Gut Microbiome and Women’s Health." This virtual webinar, offering free CME credits, will present the latest research on how the gut microbiome impacts women's health.

The session will explore the influence of social stressors on the gut microbiome and its role in breast cancer development. Dr. Negar Fani, a clinical neuropsychologist, will share insights from her research on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and interpersonal trauma's effects on the gut microbiome.

Dr. Saori Furuta, with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, will discuss her work on the interplay between metabolism, immunity, and the microbiome in cancer progression and prevention. Her current research investigates whether reprogramming arginine metabolism can improve the immunogenicity of breast tissue to suppress breast cancer growth.
