U.S. import prices saw a 1.9 percent increase in April, primarily driven by higher fuel costs, following a 0.9 percent rise in March. Concurrently, U.S. export prices advanced by 3.3 percent in April, building on a 1.5 percent increase observed in March.
Over the past 12 months, import prices have climbed 4.2 percent. Export prices demonstrated an even stronger upward trend, rising 8.8 percent during the same period, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
