Hunters can purchase 2026 Nebraska fall turkey permits starting August 10 at 1 p.m. Central time, valid statewide with a limit of one per hunter annually. Additionally, leftover 2026 big game permits, including those for elk and deer units, will be available for purchase beginning August 5 at 10 a.m. Central time until they are sold out. Both types of permits can be acquired through the online permitting site or at a permitting office.
For those interested in enhancing local wildlife opportunities, proposals for Watchable Wildlife Grants will be accepted from August 3 to October 2. These grants support creative projects such as viewing blinds, pollinator gardens, and educational materials. Community engagement continues with kayak cleanups on August 11, women's outdoor workshops throughout August, and a free family-friendly nature day at Glacial Till Vineyard & Winery in Palmyra on August 9.
