A federal jury has convicted Kenneth Maurice Quick, Jr., a 26-year-old Laurinburg man, on eight charges including first-degree murder, drug conspiracy, and obstruction of justice, following the killings of two individuals on Ft. Bragg property. The verdict was accepted by U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan.
Quick murdered WL and TD after a cocaine deal where Quick never intended to pay. TD, who sold the cocaine to WL, joined him to meet Quick. Quick shot WL five times in the back at a Laurinburg trap house. TD then helped Quick dump WL’s body in a rural wooded area on Ft. Bragg, hoping to avoid a similar fate. However, when their truck became stuck, Quick killed TD, shooting him once in the head and once in the back, before coordinating an escape from Ft. Bragg and later burning TD's truck.
U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle said, "This verdict ensures that North Carolina is a safer place. A killer will spend the rest of his life behind bars." Reid Davis, the FBI Special Agent in Charge in North Carolina, added, "The verdict, guilty on all eight federal counts related to murder, drugs, illegal firearms, and obstruction tells the story. The FBI and our law enforcement partners will make certain violent criminals are always held accountable."
Quick also engaged in obstruction of justice, discussing "work" required for potential witnesses and expressing happiness upon learning one was killed. He faces a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without parole when sentenced in August 2026. The FBI and U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division led the investigation.
