U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested numerous criminal illegal aliens, including individuals convicted of murder, pedophilia, and kidnapping, over the Memorial Day weekend. These arrests occurred while "sanctuary politicians and anti-ICE agitators" were protesting at the Delaney Hall detention facility in New Jersey.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis emphasized the agency's commitment, saying, "While New Jersey sanctuary politicians and anti-ICE agitators chose to spend their Memorial Day weekend smearing law enforcement and rioting outside ICE’s Delaney Hall facility, our law enforcement continued to put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, pedophiles, and kidnappers." Bis added, "We will not let rioters stop or slow ICE down. Instead of smearing ICE law enforcement, we need sanctuary politicians to cooperate with us to get criminals out of our communities."
Among those arrested were Mosiah Wright, convicted of murder in Minnesota; Joaquin Perez-Barajas, convicted of attempted capital murder and manslaughter in Texas; and Candido Arroyo-Bautista, convicted of lewd acts with a child in California. Other arrests included Vidal George-Jimenz for attempted rape and sodomy in Oregon, and Juan Aurelio Perez-Gomez for kidnapping and assault in Utah. ICE continues to call for cooperation from local politicians to facilitate the removal of criminals from communities.
