Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent has announced the appointment of Kate Tyrrell as the new Treasury Chief of Staff, bringing extensive experience from her previous roles in federal service and the private sector.
Tyrrell most recently served as Chief of Staff, Chief Operating Officer, and Senior Deputy Comptroller at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). In this capacity, she managed daily operations, oversaw public and legislative affairs, and provided direct support to the Comptroller, playing a crucial role in policy and operational coordination within the OCC and across interagency processes, including with the Treasury Department.
Her background also includes leadership positions at a real estate finance and investment firm, as well as federal service as Deputy Chief of Staff at the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Deputy Executive Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Tyrrell holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
