Mayor Karen Bass and L.A. County Supervisor Hilda Solis announced extended mobile health clinic hours and comprehensive recovery resources for Boyle Heights residents impacted by recent events. These services, offered in partnership with community health providers, require no appointments and aim to address various health and support needs.
St. John’s Community Health Mobile Clinics will operate this weekend and next week. Services include respiratory health screenings, oxygen level checks, asthma and breathing assessments, blood pressure and basic health screenings, eye and skin irritation evaluations, health education on smoke exposure, mental health support, and care navigation. The clinics will be at Lou Costello Jr. Recreation Center on July 4-5 from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and at Ruben Salazar Park from July 6-8, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The Lou Costello Jr. Recreation Center also serves as a Community Resource Center, providing air purifiers, food kits, financial assistance, and job transition help. It will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with adjusted hours on July 4 (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) and closed on July 5. Thousands of air purifiers and masks have been distributed, with more deliveries planned, and commercial-grade purifiers are available for impacted businesses.
Further support includes employment services through City WorkSource Centers, offering rapid response services for displaced workers, unemployment insurance assistance, and job placement. The City is also leveraging up to $2 million in California Dislocated Worker Additional Assistance funding for workforce development. Youth and family services are available through YouthSource and FamilySource Centers, providing paid work experience, emergency financial aid, and housing navigation. Small businesses can access recovery grants, advising, and assistance with disaster relief programs. Older adults will receive essential support through the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, including daily lunch programs and wellness activities, ensuring a wide range of ongoing assistance for the community.
