Breaking Defense is reporting that the House of Representatives has passed the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act, though the measure remains stalled in the Senate. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Ala., acknowledged that some provisions in the bill face disagreement but emphasized it is an early step in a lengthy process.
The outlet also said the defense secretary indicated the administration urgently requires nearly $90 billion in supplemental funding. This request is partly to cover costs related to the Iran conflict.
Separately, Breaking Defense reported the Pentagon is open to collaborating with industry regarding concerns over a new executive order on critical minerals. The order mandates companies alter their supply of critical materials by early 2027, a timeline industry views as potentially difficult to meet.
