PolitiFact is reporting that President Donald Trump's 2025 financial disclosure form showed an estimated wealth increase of more than $2 billion, with the majority of gains coming from cryptocurrency and other non-stock sources. It said Trump attributed his profits to the rising stock market in a July 1 press gaggle, stating, "everybody's profiting." However, PolitiFact's analysis of the 927-page disclosure indicated $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency and an additional $400 million from real estate, legal settlements, overseas licensing and branded merchandise. Kedric Payne, general counsel for the Campaign Legal Center, noted that the "vast majority" of reported increases were outside a direct connection to the stock market. The White House did not dispute PolitiFact's calculations, with spokesperson Anna Kelly stating Trump had "a lot of assets because he was a massively successful businessman." PolitiFact rated Trump's statement "Mostly False" because it contained an element of truth but omitted crucial information.
PolitiFact also reported on a widespread cyclosporiasis outbreak, with more than 800 cases reported in at least 18 states since May 1. It said local, state and federal public health officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, were investigating clusters of cases by July 6 to identify potential sources.
