The U.S. Census Bureau has announced a series of upcoming data releases, service updates, and research opportunities, including the reopening of its Age Search Service and new economic and demographic reports scheduled for release through September.
After a temporary pause, the Age Search Service is again accepting requests, offering official transcripts of confidential census records from 1910 to 2020. These transcripts, which include details like age, sex, and birth information, can be used for social security, passports, settling estates, and genealogy, with information released only to the named individual, heirs, or legal representatives. Additionally, the Census Bureau's Center for Enterprise Dissemination Services is seeking users for a usability testing study to improve data.census.gov, inviting participants with experience in data analysis.
Several key demographic reports are slated for release. "An Aging World: 2025," the sixth edition in its series, is tentatively scheduled for August 27, providing statistics from various international data sources. New data tables on the foreign-born population by generation, covering income, poverty, employment, and health insurance, are expected on September 8. Furthermore, September 15 will see the release of "Income in the United States: 2025," "Health Insurance in the United States: 2025," and "Poverty in the United States: 2025," all based on the 2026 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).
Economic data tools and reports are also being updated. The legacy USA Trade Online platform was decommissioned on June 30, replaced by a "Reimagined" version with an improved interface. Version 5.12 of the Census Business Builder (CBB) tool, featuring new "per capita income" data and enhanced functionality, is set for release on August 26. A webinar on August 27 will demonstrate how Census Bureau data can inform business decisions for market entry and growth. New Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes data, providing graduate earnings and employment for over 1,000 institutions, will also be released on August 27.
The full data set from the 2024 Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES), offering detailed economic data at various geographies, is scheduled for September 3. The 2026 Annual Government Organization and Structure counts, including government units by state and local government types, will be released on September 24. The Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS) continues to provide biweekly experimental data on business conditions across sectors and geographies.
