The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that jobless rates decreased in 191 of 387 metropolitan areas in May compared to a year prior.
The latest Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment news release also indicated that unemployment rates rose in 164 areas and remained unchanged in 32.
Nonfarm payroll employment saw an increase in only 8 areas, a decrease in 4, and was largely stable in 375 metropolitan areas over the same period.
