Louisville, KY – GE Appliances and IUE-CWA have announced a transformative $1 billion investment into Louisville’s Appliance Park, establishing it as the largest home appliance manufacturing site in the United States. This significant commitment underscores the company's long-term dedication to manufacturing in Kentucky, expanding production and sustaining jobs for Kentuckians.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear celebrated the announcement, stating, "Kentucky has established itself as an economic leader, and now with the investment and support of GE Appliances and IUE-CWA, Louisville’s Appliance Park is officially the largest home appliance manufacturing site in America." He added that the state's pro-business and pro-union stance benefits everyone.
The investment includes over $400 million to convert Building 5 into a high-output dryer manufacturing operation, relocating production from Mexico. An additional $112 million will be allocated to Building 1 for new equipment and redesigns of existing washer and dryer platforms. These initiatives build upon a previously announced $490 million investment in Building 2, set to begin frontload washer and combination unit production in 2027.
IUE-CWA President Carl Kennebrew emphasized the importance of the investment, saying, “Investment in American manufacturing is critical to our economy and our communities. Our union members are proud to manufacture American-made GE appliances in Louisville, and this new investment will ensure that our members keep delivering these high-quality products to American consumers for years to come.” Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances, highlighted the competitive advantage of consolidating laundry and dishwasher manufacturing, enabling faster innovation and strengthening U.S. production.
This latest investment reinforces GE Appliances' ongoing commitment to its U.S. manufacturing footprint, following previous milestones such as a $490 million investment in June 2025 and a $3 billion commitment to U.S. operations over five years. Appliance Park, established in 1953, serves as the company's global headquarters and employs over 8,000 people. The Governor's administration has overseen significant economic growth, with over $50.7 billion in investments and 70,000 new jobs created statewide.
