Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs due to potential contamination with Salmonella Enteritidis, as announced by the US Food and Drug Administration.
The recalled eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6, 2026, and July 3, 2026. They carry sell-by or best-by dates ranging from July 20, 2026, to August 17, 2026. The products were shipped to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, including Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana, and Brookshire Grocery stores across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi, along with other smaller retail outlets.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Midwest Poultry Services L.P. said it is not aware of any specific illnesses linked to its products at this time.
