House Republicans recently approved a bill allocating an additional $73 billion to what Congresswoman Katherine Clark termed "Trump's failed war," a move she strongly opposed. Clark, the Democratic Whip, cast a "NO" vote, arguing that the funds could be better utilized for American families.
Clark highlighted several domestic priorities that could benefit from such an investment, including reducing childcare costs to $15 a day, lowering insurance premiums, capping home energy expenses, and ending unfair rent hikes. She criticized the Republican-backed bill for allegedly contributing to rising gas prices and supporting voter suppression efforts, while offering no relief for working people.
"Democrats are prioritizing the people over the powerful. We are fighting every day for an affordable America," Clark said. She pledged that if House Democrats regain the majority, they would "put an end to this nonsense and get to work on lowering costs, protecting healthcare, and fighting corruption."
