The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has announced it will host a public meeting on July 23 to discuss its proposed rule implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The meeting, updated to be held online, will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the rule changes published in the Federal Register on July 7.
NRC staff will present an overview of the proposed rule and related implementation activities during the session. Participants will also have the chance to ask questions regarding the changes. The meeting is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be accessible via Microsoft Teams.
As an expert technical agency, the NRC is responsible for protecting public health, safety, and security, and regulating the civilian use of nuclear materials. The agency is actively collaborating with interagency partners to implement reforms outlined in new Executive Orders and the ADVANCE Act, aiming to streamline its activities and enhance efficiency.
