Mayor Karen Bass joined Councilmember Nazarian and community members in North Hollywood to highlight the continued installation of solar street lights across Los Angeles. This event marks progress on an initiative launched in March to repair and replace up to 60,000 street lights citywide over the next two years, with hundreds already installed.
The solar street light technology aims to bolster public safety, eliminate a decade-long repair backlog, combat copper wire theft, and reduce energy consumption. This initiative also accelerates Los Angeles' transition to 100% clean energy by 2035.
