Fairfax County Emergency Information is marking week four of National Preparedness Month with a Prep Tip Tuesday reminder to protect the documents and records you would need most if disaster struck.

The series has so far covered knowing your risk, making a plan and building a kit. This week's step is one people often skip, the agency said.

Water and food get most of the attention during emergency preparations, but important documents and records are easily overlooked.

The guidance forms part of National Preparedness Month, an annual push to encourage households to prepare for emergencies.
