Connecticut residents can begin casting their ballots today, August 3, 2026, as seven consecutive days of in-person early voting commences for the state primary scheduled for August 11, 2026. Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz reminded the public about this opportunity, which aims to provide greater convenience and encourage participation.
Early voting will run daily through Sunday, August 9, 2026. Specific hours are set for each day: Monday, August 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Tuesday, August 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Wednesday, August 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, August 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; and Friday, August 7, Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, all from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Voters must be registered with a specific party to participate in that party's primary election. Early voting locations are designated in each municipality and may differ from regular Election Day polling places. Most towns and cities have only one early voting site. Election officials maintain records to prevent multiple voting.
For those not yet registered, or unaffiliated voters wishing to participate, specific deadlines apply. New registrants or party affiliates must act by noon on the business day before they plan to vote early. Unaffiliated voters must affiliate with a party in person by noon on Monday, August 10, 2026, to vote by absentee ballot or on Election Day. It is now too late for voters to switch parties for the 2026 state primary. The primary itself will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
