Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom announced today that Treg Taylor's nomination for Governor will not be certified, following a recommendation from the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC) due to non-compliance with financial disclosure laws.
The decision stems from Taylor's 2026 public official financial disclosure statement, which APOC determined did not substantially comply with AS 39.50 within the legally required 30-day period, ending July 1, 2026. APOC considered the statement on August 26, 2026, and issued its 4-1 recommendation against certification on August 27, with a full written order on August 28.
Lt. Gov. Dahlstrom said, "This is a difficult decision made under an extraordinarily tight timeline and in circumstances we have not faced before. The law, however, is not unclear." She emphasized her responsibility to follow AS 39.50.060(b), which prohibits certification if compliance is not met within the specified timeframe, noting Taylor failed to provide required income information.
