Chilean Company Recalls Frozen Blueberries Over E. coli O145 Concerns

Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. has initiated a recall of its frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries, 10 oz, due to potential contamination with Escherichia coli O145:H28. The recall follows 12 confirmed cases of stomach illness linked to the bacteria between May 11 and June 5, 2026.

The affected product, with Lot Code 60401 and a Best By Date of February 9, 2028, was distributed to Publix stores across eight states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. E. coli O145 can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting, with a risk of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.

Consumers are urged to check their freezers for the recalled blueberries. No other lot codes or Best By dates are impacted by this recall.
