Congresswoman Katherine Clark has sharply criticized the one-year anniversary of a Republican-backed law, citing significant negative impacts on Massachusetts residents and millions of Americans. Clark highlighted that over 140,000 Bay Staters, including nearly 50,000 children, have lost food assistance, while more than 53,000 people in Massachusetts have been removed from Medicaid.

Nationwide, the law has led to utility bills soaring by over $110 per household and health care premiums on the ACA Marketplace increasing by 58%. According to Clark, more than 5 million Americans have lost their health care coverage, with further losses anticipated. She also noted "massive tax cuts for the Trump family and their billionaire donors."

Congresswoman Clark, the Democratic Whip, emphasized the Democratic Party's commitment to counter these policies. "Democrats are fighting with everything we’ve got to stop Republicans’ outrageous betrayal of the American people," Clark said. She added, "You deserve better from your government." Clark concluded by stating that if House Democrats regain the majority, they "will deliver policies that lower costs, protect healthcare, and fight corruption."
