Newsweek is reporting that President Donald Trump told the United Nations General Assembly that Iran made a "big mistake," framing the remark around his offer of full economic cooperation in exchange for Iran ending its nuclear program and support for terror. Newsweek said the affair has been a cascade of mistakes from all parties involved, directly or not, and it published a ranked list of seven of the biggest mistakes made during the Iran war, ordered from bad to worse.

Newsweek is also reporting that New York Gov. Kathy Hochul asked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a $300,000 check as part of the Democrats' statewide coordinated campaign. It said that in New York politics, $300,000 does not buy much, noting it will not blanket the state in television ads or transform a governor's campaign finances. Newsweek said what matters about the check is that Hochul came asking Ocasio-Cortez for it.

Separately, Newsweek is reporting that Trump's new artificial intelligence force has no budget, no powers and no statute, while the five entities it collides with have all three. It said the new force is outnumbered 5 to 1.

Newsweek Editor-in-Chief Jennifer H. Cunningham also told readers that trustworthy news is harder to find than news itself, saying the outlet follows facts rather than factions and inviting readers to become members for ad-free browsing, exclusive reporting and analysis, and conversations with editors. Newsweek said it is part of the Trust Project, which focuses on honesty, accuracy and fairness in journalism.
