U.S. Metro Jobless Rates Decline in Majority of Areas

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that jobless rates decreased in July compared to a year prior in 241 out of 387 metropolitan areas across the United States. This indicates a significant improvement in unemployment figures for a majority of regions.

Conversely, 128 metropolitan areas saw an increase in their jobless rates, while 18 remained unchanged. Regarding nonfarm payroll employment, 19 areas experienced an increase over the year, 4 saw a decrease, and 364 areas reported essentially no change.
