The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that jobless rates increased in 200 of 387 metropolitan areas in April compared to a year prior. This data comes from the latest Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment news release.
Conversely, 152 metro areas saw lower unemployment rates, while 35 remained unchanged. Regarding nonfarm payroll employment, only four areas experienced an increase over the year, with four seeing a decrease and 379 remaining essentially stable.
