US Secretary of the Army Daniel P. Driscoll will undertake a working visit to Finland on June 18–19, 2026, hosted by Finland’s Ministry of Defence, to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation and discuss regional security.
Secretary Driscoll is scheduled to meet with Finnish Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen in Mikkeli on June 19. Their agenda includes bilateral defense cooperation, current NATO topics, the security situation in Finland’s neighboring areas, and participation in training and exercises.
Minister Häkkänen emphasized the importance of the visit, stating, “We have been actively working to deepen defence cooperation between Finland and the United States. One example of this is the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), which reflects the United States’ commitment to Finland’s security and lays the foundation for cooperation in times of crisis.”
During his visit, Secretary Driscoll will also meet with the Command of the Finnish Defence Forces, become acquainted with Finland’s defense industry, and hold discussions with President of the Republic Alexander Stubb.
