Fairfax County Police Department's (FCPD) Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) recently gained national recognition at the National Real Time Crime Center Association (NRTCCA) Conference in Phoenix, AZ. The department was represented in leadership roles, educational discussions, and showcased its technological advancements in law enforcement.
Major Hudson Bull, Commander of the RTCC and Business Director on the NRTCCA Board, was honored as the 2026 NRTCCA Board Director of the Year for his significant contributions. Additionally, Sergeant Katherine Wears participated in the "Female Drone Panel," sharing her expertise on drone operations within law enforcement.
A 2025 FCPD investigation into an attempted child abduction at Fair Oaks was prominently featured, demonstrating how the RTCC's use of the Peregrine technology platform and other resources enabled rapid suspect identification and apprehension in Chantilly. This highlights the RTCC's effectiveness in developing leads and solving crimes.
Further underscoring its innovative approach, FCPD's Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, operated through the RTCC, received the "Best in Category for Criminal Justice and Public Safety" award from the National Association of Counties in July. The DFR program provides officers with crucial real-time aerial information, enhancing incident assessment and decision-making.
