The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) today encouraged taxpayers, businesses, and tax professionals to utilize its expanding suite of secure online tools available on IRS.gov for managing common tax tasks quickly and efficiently. These digital resources offer self-service options for accessing tax records, checking refund statuses, making payments, and handling various other tax-related matters.
IRS Chief Executive Officer Frank J. Bisignano emphasized the agency's commitment to digital services. "IRS.gov gives taxpayers secure options to get information and take action when it is convenient for them," said Bisignano. "Online services make it easier for taxpayers, tax professionals, and businesses to resolve many common tax matters quickly. As a digital-first agency, we are committed to expanding our online tools to better serve the public."
Individual taxpayers can use the IRS Individual Online Account to view balance information, schedule payments, access tax return details, and obtain an Identity Protection PIN. Businesses can leverage the Business Tax Account to manage federal tax responsibilities, view account balances, make deposits, and access compliance reports. Tax professionals also have a dedicated Tax Pro Account to manage authorization requests and client relationships, facilitating electronic handling of power of attorney and tax information authorizations.
Additional tools include Get Transcript for personal tax records, Direct Pay for secure bank account payments, and the Tax Withholding Estimator. The IRS also offers the IRS2Go Mobile App for on-the-go access to refund status and payment options. The agency reminds users to only access services via IRS.gov and warns against suspicious communications, as the IRS does not request personal or financial information via email, text, or social media.
