It said Chief Justice John Roberts issued a temporary stay, preventing a federal district court judge's injunction from halting the project. The stay gives the full Supreme Court more time to consider the Trump Administration’s request to keep the injunction on hold while it seeks further review. The ruling follows a legal challenge by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which argues a president cannot unilaterally make major, permanent changes to federally owned property without congressional authorization.
