The Mayor's Office on Women's Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) will host a community screening of "Listen to Me," a documentary on Black maternal health, on Thursday, October 1, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C.

The event features the Season 18 opening film of Black Public Media's AfroPoP series. Directed by Kanika Harris and Stephanie Etienne, "Listen to Me" follows three Black women navigating pregnancy and care in America.

According to the release, the film calls attention to disparities that demand accountability, healing, and systemic change.

The screening is free and open to the community, with RSVPs accepted online. Organizers said, "Come be part of the conversation. Hope to see you there!"
