The Fairfax County Police Department is accepting applications for its Community Police Academy, offering residents an in-depth look into local law enforcement operations. Led by Chief Kevin Davis, the academy begins September 10 and will run for eight Thursday evenings, concluding by November 14th.
Participants will gain insight into various aspects of police work, including training methods such as weapons and driving, Crime Scene Investigation, and policies on Use of Force and Traffic Stops. The curriculum also covers Internal Affairs, the capabilities of the police helicopter, and SWAT operations.
