Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has signed an executive order to halt tax incentives for data centers provided through the state's ImagiNE Nebraska Act. The order, announced today, aims to allow the state to thoroughly assess the future benefits of such projects.

Governor Pillen said the move is also intended to evaluate the potential impacts data centers have on critical resources, including land, water, and electricity. He was joined at the announcement by Senator Mike Jacobson, Director of Economic Development Maureen Larsen, and Director Jesse Bradley of Water, Energy and Environment.

This executive action signals a pause in the state's previous approach to attracting data center development, prioritizing a comprehensive review of their broader implications for Nebraska's resources and economic landscape.
