The Social Security Administration said the operational status of its local offices, card centers and hearing offices in Hawaii has changed.
In a notice to the public, the agency directed people to check the current status of their local office before visiting. It also reminded the public that many services can be handled online, without an office visit.
"Did you know that you can handle a lot of your business with us online?" the agency said.
The agency listed a range of popular online services, including reviewing your latest Social Security statement and earnings history, estimating retirement benefits, and checking the status of an application or appeal.
People can also apply online for retirement, disability and Medicare benefits, or appeal a medical decision, according to the notice.
Account management tools allow users to change their address, set up or change direct deposit, print proof of benefits and print a 1099, the agency said.
For help and answers, the agency pointed to its frequently asked questions and online options for requesting a replacement Medicare card or a replacement Social Security card.
The Social Security Administration encouraged the public to "Go Digital" and create a personal my Social Security account to access benefits information.
