The Kyiv Independent is reporting that Ukrainian drones targeted a Russian military logistics facility in Naro-Fominsk, Moscow Oblast, overnight on May 7. It said the strike was reported by social media channels. The Kyiv Independent said Rustem Umerov, the secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, is scheduled to meet with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami. The meeting is expected to take place as early as this week. In occupied Crimea, Russian authorities have canceled Victory Day celebrations. The Kyiv Independent said Sergey Aksyonov, the head of the occupation authorities, cited security considerations and the threat of Ukrainian drone strikes for the decision. Additionally, the outlet reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of Russian plans to expand the exploitation of resources in occupied southern Ukraine. It said Zelensky accused Russia of implementing processes of looting and deindustrialization similar to those seen in other occupied areas.
