Cornell Chronicle is reporting that Gabriella Carini has been named the new director of the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source, or CHESS. It said Carini will take over from Joel Brock, who has served as director since 2013.
The Chronicle also reported on a new free website, MeatSuite, which connects consumers with local meat producers. It said the platform helps customers find local sources and provides estimates for the costs and savings associated with buying meat in bulk.
Additionally, the Chronicle highlighted research showing promise for immunotherapy in clearing residual melanoma cells. It said researchers successfully enhanced the body's immune response to combat melanoma following targeted cancer therapy.
In other news, the Associated Press, as cited by Cornell Chronicle, reported on Chinese workers adapting to growing worries about AI job takeovers. Eswar Prasad of SC Johnson College said AI is expected to increase productivity but could significantly disrupt employment in China.
Martha Stewart, also cited by Cornell Chronicle, featured Frank Rossi of CALS discussing Bermuda grass. Rossi said the grass thrives in heat, spreads aggressively, and colonizes thin or disturbed turf.
