ICE Lodges Detainer for Haitian Illegal Alien Charged in Florida Homicide

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Whycliff Longin, an illegal alien from Haiti, who faces charges including homicide, attempted homicide, sexual battery, and burglary with a battery in Florida.

The charges stem from an incident on August 27 in Lehigh Acres, where Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the body of Amadette Longin, identified as the suspect's aunt, after responding to a domestic disturbance. Another woman, identified as the suspect's cousin, reported being strangled before escaping and calling 911.

Whycliff Longin, who illegally entered the United States through Florida in 2024, was taken into custody, and ICE lodged a detainer with the Lee County Jail on the day of his arrest.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said, "This dangerous illegal alien should have never been allowed into our country in the first place.
