Arlington is gearing up for a busy period with the all-ages LibraryFest and expanded early voting for the upcoming August 4 Dual Primary Election. LibraryFest, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary, is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Central Library, offering live performances, arts and crafts, food vendors, and a unique LEGO sculpture of the U.S. Constitution.
Early voting for the August 4 Dual Primary Election will expand to three locations starting Sunday, July 19. Voters can cast their ballots at Courthouse Plaza, Langston-Brown Community Center, and Walter Reed Community Center. All Arlington voters are eligible to vote early at any of these sites, though hours will vary by location.
For recreational activities, teens are invited to "Glow n' Float," a glow-in-the-dark pool party at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center, which requires parental registration. The county also issued a safety message differentiating e-bikes from e-motos, noting that e-motos can reach speeds of up to 65mph and are generally not appropriate for teens. All riders are strongly advised to follow traffic laws and wear a helmet.
Residents have several opportunities to engage with the county, including reviewing Older Americans Act funding decisions by July 21 and providing input for Arlington's 2027 Legislative Package by July 31. The refreshed Multimodal Transportation Plan is also available for review and feedback. Other upcoming events include the Arlington County Fair on August 12, and the County Board has approved a new $1.7 billion balanced budget for FY 2027.
