A U.S. congressional delegation, comprising four members of the House of Representatives and officials from the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, visited George Mason University Korea on July 27. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the university's global education model and explore opportunities to expand U.S.-Korea educational cooperation.
Domestically, George Mason's Disability Services hosted a specialized career fair designed to create a more accessible, lower-pressure environment for neurodivergent students. Elizabeth Foy, lab manager in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, was named August Employee of the Month in recognition of her dedication. She oversees the preparation and distribution of all chemistry materials across the Fairfax and Science and Technology campuses, managing nearly 100 lab class sections weekly.
Furthering academic support, University Libraries will host an AI Boot Camp for Graduate Students on August 18-19, available both in-person and online. Additionally, cybersecurity expert Umit Karabiyik explained in a 60-Second Lecture how data from smartwatches and connected devices can assist crime investigations, emphasizing the need for corroboration with multiple sources to improve reliability.
