FCPS to Host World's First K-12 Quantum Computer at Skyview High School

Fairfax County Public Schools, in partnership with Connected DMV and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, plans to bring an operational quantum computer to students at Skyview High School — described as the world's first K-12 quantum computer.

The partnership gives students a unique opportunity to work with an emerging science as it moves from research laboratories into fields such as cybersecurity, medicine, materials science, finance, logistics and national security.

The system is expected to be installed in December, with student learning experiences beginning in spring 2027.

The county also reminded residents that Medicaid eligibility changes for non-citizen adults begin Oct. 1. Providence Fallfest is set for Oct. 10, and registration is open for the Tour de Mount Vernon on Oct. 31.
